Welcome

On behalf of Glasgow Caledonian University we welcome you to the 2nd International Conference on Ambulatory Monitoring of Physical Activity and Movement, ICAMPAM 2011.

The first meeting, held in Rotterdam in 2008 and hosted by the Erasmus University proved a great success with researchers, technologists, suppliers, users and clinicians gathering to discuss and debate all aspects of the ambulatory monitoring of physical activity and movement.

For this conference we will be expanding and developing the themes explored in Rotterdam.

Topics for ICAMPAM 2011 include methodological and practical issues, advances in instruments and technology in measuring physical activity, sedentary behaviour and energy expenditure, advances in movement analysis outside the laboratory and applications in research and clinical practice.

The successful application of ambulatory monitoring requires the development and testing of relevant outcome measures. The programme will therefore include applications of ambulatory monitoring techniques in areas such as medicine, physical therapy, public health, movement science and sports, ergonomics and occupational health.

ICAMPAM 2011 provides the important opportunity for those working in ambulatory monitoring of physical activity and movement to meet and discuss the latest advances in this field.

We are sure that you will enjoy the Glasgow city centre conference venue and hope that you have the opportunity to take in some of the natural beauty and world renowned historic sites of Scotland.

On behalf of the organising committee and the School of Health at Glasgow Caledonian University, we hereby invite you to attend the 2nd ICAMPAM in Glasgow, Scotland.

Professor Malcolm Granat (Conference Chair)
Professor Frank Crossan (Dean of School of Health)
Professor Francine Cheater (Director for Institute of Applied Health Research)
